Bartlett First AssemblyWe are the Holy Spirit's voice to our Community
Bartlett First is affiliated with the Assemblies of God. The official doctrine of the Assemblies of God (USA) is as follows: Doctrinally, the church emphasizes personal salvation, water baptism, divine healing, the baptism with the Holy Spirit accompanied by the evidence of speaking in tongues, and the pre-millennial second coming of Jesus Christ. The Bible is recognized as the inspired word of God and provides the rule for faith and practice.
To love God with all our mind, heart, soul, and strength and to love our neighbor as much as we love ourselves.
The mission of our church is to be the Holy Spirit’s voice to our community.
Ignited is based on Heb 12:29, “For our Godis a consuming fire.” Join us for worship, games, and fun. Ignited regularly attends conferences, camps, and competitions that encourage spiritual growth.
The young adults group is a fellowship of individuals in their 20′s and 30′s.
Cell groups are small study groups that meet at 6 PM on dates published in the bulletin. This allows for Bible study, fellowship, and food (spiritual and physical).
Sunday School is of the highest priority in our Christian Education Dept. With exciting classes ranging from Nursery to Senior Adults, we have a class for everyone. Our Children’s classes are age appropriate and fill each child with the desire to learn more about God. We also offer insightful adult electives, such as Bible Basics, Direct Book Studies, and Life Relevance Classes. All of which, are taught by knowledgeable teachers in the power of the Holy Spirit. In Sunday School we strive to offer a variety of ways to build life-long relationships and increased understanding of God.
Boys for Christ
Our Wednesday evening Boys ministry is led by dedicated, Spirit-filled leaders who teach the Word of God in a loving and accepting environment. It is fun-filled and geared to help our boys learn about who Jesus is and what He has done for them. Classes include: Preschool through 5th grade.
Our Children’s Church time on Sunday morning is amazing. Split into two age groups, Pre-school to First grade and Second Grade to Fifth Grade, each group has a lesson planned designed specifically for them. This ministry is carried out by volunteer staff people with a love for children and God’s word. With diverse teaching styles, from crafts to video to music and spoken word, Kids korp is a fun and exciting way for kids to learn about Jesus, and to begin a life-long relationship with Him.
Mpact Girls Clubs is a program for winning girls to Jesus Christ through love and acceptance. Wednesday evenings are packed full of fun and excitement as our dedicated leaders teach about God’s love, using age appropriate curriculum. Each unit has activities and projects which help facilitate a clearer understanding of each lesson, but not without maintaining that fun and exciting atmosphere. Classes include: Preschool through 5th grade.

As a group, we prepare banquets and church dinners, keep the kitchen stocked with supplies for the many social activities of church life. We buy necessary equipment like tables and dishes, and keep the rooms of the church organized and pleasingly decorated. We meet together the second Sunday of each month at 6 pm for food, fellowship and inspiration. Women of all ages are enthusiastically welcomed those evenings. Please come and join us. Bring a friend.
Johnny and Mallory Byrd
Lead Pastors Pastor Johnny and Mallory have a heart for the community of Bartlett. Mallory was born and raised in our great city, and now teaches and coaches in the Bartlett City Schools. Johnny moved here in 2002 to be on staff at Bartlett First. Since that time, Johnny graduated from Mid-South Masters Commission, and completed his upper-level Assembly of God credentials through Tennessee School of Ministry. Both Johnny and Mallory have served in every area of ministry from Nursery to Senior Adults. God has given them a vision not only for our church, but this community.
NXT GEN Pastor Andrew attended Lighthouse Christian College, where he received a degree in biblical studies. He grew up in a pastor’s home and has been involved in church since he was born. “There is a big difference in being involved and being called. I know and believe that God called me to reach the next generation. I have devoted my life to teach kids about our awesome God! I am now the NXT GEN pastor here at Bartlett First Assembly of God. We are excited to see what God is going to do in the future generations through the NXT GEN ministry of Bartlett First Assembly.”
Pastor Scout was born and raised right here in Bartlett, and feels called to this community. He dedicated his life to following Jesus in 2010 and since that time, Scout’s goal has been to find God’s purpose for him. This goal led him to Springs School of Ministry where he was trained in both student and worship ministries. He began his ministries at BFA in January 2016. Pastor Scout’s love for God’s presence pushes him deeper in worship and further in relationships with out Ignited Students. Pastor Scout says “Ministry is all about hearing and obeying the Holy Spirit. I know God has called me to lead in worship, I know God has given me a purpose to lead the next generation into passionate, intimate relationship with Jesus. I am so excited to see what God is going to do through these ministries and I know that God is using BFA for an eternal difference.”
Richard and Anne Denniston
Pastor Richard and Anne were apart of the BFA family for several years before coming on staff. Richard attended Southern Bible College and graduated in 1969, and in nearly 50 years of ministry he has pastored 5 churches, served in several executive and sectional offices in the Pentecostal Church of God, and they still act as the District Secretary Treasurer in the Mississippi District currently. Along with their years of pastoral experience he also has served as a chaplain in prisons, on job sites and for Hospice home health groups. Richard and Anne served part-time basis until retirement from secular employment and now serving BFA in a number of ways, including teaching Sunday School, leading Small Group ministries, leading seniors ministries and visiting Hospitals. Now living in Arlington, they love and serve our church as examples of Jesus they serve.
What to expect:
Our purpose is to serve our community and YOU. Our Family Worship Center/Gymnasium accommodates worship services as well as sports and a variety of events for all ages. We invite you to be our guest. Making you feel welcome is one of our priorities. We look forward to your visit and have a gift for you. Just turn in your completed visitor card at the back of the sanctuary after the service and you will be given a special guest basket. “He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His glorious power,” (Eph 3:20) Our goal is that each person be saved from eternal judgement by believing and trusting in Christ. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (Jn 3:16) We encourage all who attend regularly to blend our abilities, strengths, and spiritual gifts given by God, to serve Him together. “For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom; and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit: to another faith, in the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, in the one Spirit; and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discernings of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; and to another the interpretation of tongues: but all these worketh the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each one severally even as he will. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ.” (1 Cor 12:8-12)
